Create Jobs
A person is considered to be employed if:
- is 15 years or older
- is dependent, self-employed or works in a family business
- produces goods and/or services
- generates an income and/or receives benefits in kind through their employment(s)
A Job is created if
- It complies with the minimum duration of employment: employment is for at least 20 hours per week for a period of 26 weeks per year (or any other combination resulting in at least 520 hours per week, with interruptions if necessary).
- Payment of an adequate wage of twice the poverty line: in Ethiopia 125 Birr per day (3,88 USD) or 3750 Birr per month
- Creating “income opportunities”: Jobs can be created along the value chain when an enterprise increases demand in local supply and delivery markets. This especially applies to informal Bottom of Pyramid (BoP) markets.
